So, Apple's moving to Intel. Mixed feelings about that, but I guess it's a good idea. I dislike Intel's decisions technically (very deep pipelines, bad SIMD instruction sets), but their cooler and faster processors are stripping away the PPC advantages. I think what finally tipped Apple's hand was IBM's inability to put out a 3 GHz G5 and the heat problems surrounding a G5 laptop.

I really wish it was AMD instead of Intel...

And I really will miss the superior PPC instruction set. x86 is a kludge on a kludge on a kludge.

But I think Ars Technica can explain better than I can.
